After the traditional egg hunt or weekend walk, get family and friends together to play Barley-Brake, a popular 17th-century Easter game that's definitely due for a revival. You can play it on any open ground, beach or park, by dividing the area into three using coats or chalk. The middle section is called 'Hell'. One couple (boy/girl or parent/child) hold hands and stand in Hell, while the others try to run from end to end of the pitch without being caught. Anyone who's captured gets put into prison (a small area marked out in Hell) or can choose to join hands and help catch the others as they run up and down. Play until everyone is exhausted.
